RARE EARLY 1900s AMERICAN SOCIETY OF EQUITY PINBACK LAPEL PIN, FARMERS POLITICAL

Description

This item is a rare pinback lapel pin (or button) from the American Society of Equity, an agricultural cooperative and political organization founded in Indianapolis in 1902 that ceased to exist by merger in 1934, dating this item to that span of time.  The ASE became very active in the politics of a number of states and nationally - attempting to organize farmers into a major political force.
This attractive lapel pin has a gold design against a black background.  The organization's monogram is in the center, with the words
PROFITABLE PRICES FOR FARM PRODUCTS
along the edge.  The Bastian Brothers paper label reads
AMERICAN SOCIETY OF EQUITY  INDIANAPOLIS, IND.
There is a straight attachment pin, and the lapel pin measures approximately 16 mm (5/8") in diameter.
This item is in very fine condition, with no actual wear, with minimal signs of handling, and it is very bright.  All of the design is very clear and bold (although this is not evident in the photo), and the surface remains bright.  The label is clean, with very legible printing.  The attachment pin remains strong.
