Our Light Brahmas are BIG with super heavy plumage. Our roosters weigh in at 16+ pounds, hens right around 12 pounds.
No gray or black leakage on these beautiful show quality birds!
Ours have abundantly feathered feet, are show quality with fantastic temperaments! This breed is very friendly, super winter hardy, and extremely gentle with children.
They are late to mature & begin laying around 26 to 28 weeks. Due to their large size they are also slow growers and can take up to two years to reach their full adult growth.
They are one of our very favorite breeds.. Light Brahmas are absolutely gorgeous birds ,and to top it all off, they lay beautiful large to jumbo size brown eggs in their second year!
Hatching eggs for this auction will be a combination of first and second year layers.

*Our eggs are very fertile, we hatch constantly. We keep one rooster per four hens.
**We are not responsible for hatch rates as there are so many variables in different incubators, individual hatching techniques, and so many factors out of our control after they leave our hands, including broody hens and also during shipping. Hatch rates and fertility are two different things. Not all fertile eggs will hatch. Shipped eggs are a gamble as the process of shipment can damage them. Hatch rates with shipped eggs are less than with eggs not shipped**

What is The Sweet Chicken Project?
Our flocks are hand raised with loving kindness. All of our flock members have names and are part of our family. On our homestead we even have a retirement home for older birds no longer laying. We love them and they are cared for through old age here, where they can live out their natural lives.
When you decide to raise chickens you have a few choices of how to obtain them. In most cases, you really don't know what kind of genetics they'll have other than the breed, and they may have come from a less than ideal situation.
Chickens carry traits, temperament and personality from their parents, grandparents and so on just like us. You really have no way of knowing what kind of temperament they will have.
We have worked very hard at obtaining the sweetest, friendliest, kindest flock of birds that not only are affectionate, but can be handled by young children. We truly love our birds and they reflect that back to all of us everyday. Yes, even our roosters are sweet & child friendly, from our proven genetic lines.
The Sweet Chicken Project is in it's 10th generation of birds with these kind traits. We offer hatching eggs & chicks carrying these fantastic genetics.
