were all very good sounding cartridges, for the price. These cartridges all came pre-packaged with Technics/Panasonic/Quasar (yep, there was, at one time, a hi fidelity turntable made by Quasar, which was a Panasonic subsidiary!) turntables.
Finding a replacement stylus for one of these, that performed as well as the original can be a bit tricky! Your search for a great sounding replacement is over, because the styluses in this offer are manufactured to meet or exceed the original manufacturer’s specifications. Details and history fallow in

    Technics/Panasonic did not
    actually
    make
the cartridges or styluses, those were made by a transducer company who was under contract with Panasonic. In the late 90s Panasonic was still cranking out turntables, but some cartridge companies folded, since all of their income was from cartridges and styluses. It had to do with timing. In the late 90s, the prevailing attitude was that CDs would conquer the world, that phonograph stuff was going to become antiques, and vinyl would die a slow and painful death.
    HA!
Today more turntables are sold than CD players, more new vinyl is sold today than new CDs.

The company that made these cartridges and styluses for Panasonic was one of the ones that folded. High quality generic styluses, however, continued to be made. In the early 2000s, one of the leading stylus makers, feeling the pressure that the previously mentioned cartridge companies (in Waukegan, IL) had felt, was near bankruptcy, when a huge electronics company (oddly enough, in Rockford, IL) purchased them. They still market under the same name.... When the new company took over, there was little change, however, that company changed leadership in ‘04, and things changed. Many of their companies had consistency issues. My experience has been that the styluses frequently had alignment issues. Alignment is huge in stylus quality, because if the tip points somewhere other than straight down, that one channel will play louder, distortion was more likely, and record wear, well, you can imagine if both sides of the groove have unequal pressure! I stopped buying from them, altogether. Fortunately, I found a manufacturer where the guy running the show is an audiophile, he is extremely focused of detail and quality control. In 18 years they have not made a new single stylus, that I purchased, that did not measure up to its specifications, and every stylus I sell is properly aligned. I have over 4 decades in the phono business, 20 years as an assistant manager of a hi fi specialty store in Atlanta, 5 years managing phono sales for a different person, and 15 years doing it with my own store. I stress over these details, so you don’t have to!!!

There are three basic styluses in this offer.
The entry-level stylus is the one that exactly matches the stylus for the cartridges

. The Technics/Panasonic Stylus numbers are
    EPS-23C
    ,
    EPS-24CS
    EPS-25CS
    , and
    EPS-28CS
. Variations for this item include the original 0.7 mil conical diamond, the 0.4 x 0.7 mil elliptical diamond upgrade and the 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical diamond double-upgrade. All of these styluses meet or exceed the original cartridge manufacturer’s specifications.
The next stylus is an upgrade to a 0.4 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus. This is the exact replacement stylus for the upgrade cartridges

, perfectly, and is the elliptical upgrade of those cartridges. The science behind why this one sounds better is pretty straightforward, I do not have fancy graphics at this time. The tip of the stylus on the 0.7 mil conical is basically sphere shaped. It rides fairly high between the groove of the record. If you recall your geometry, the 0.4 x 0.7 mil is elliptical, it is more egg shaped. Because the 0.4 dimension is more narrow, it rides lower in the grove. More of the surface area of the stylus touches the grove, therefore, more of the music (embedded in the grove) gets to the stylus and is then passed to the cartridge.
The next stylus is an upgrade to a 0.3 x 0.7 mil elliptical stylus. This is an upgrade stylus for the upgrade cartridges

It fits them perfectly, and is the best sounding stylus in this offer. The science behind why this one sounds better is pretty straightforward, I do not have fancy graphics at this time. You will recall, from the above bullet point, the tip of the stylus on the 0.7 mil conical is sphere shaped. It rides fairly high between the groove of the record. Like the 0.4 x 0.7 mil, the 0.3 x 0.7 mil is elliptical, however, the ellipse is even more pronounced, so the tip rides even lower in the grove. Because the 0.3 dimension is more narrow even more of the surface area of the stylus touches the grove, therefore, even more detail (of the music, embedded in the grove) gets to the stylus and is then passed to the cartridge. Of all the styluses for
    this
cartridge I offer, this one offers the most detail.
