    Description

12+ hedemora eggs. From multiple lines. Official poultry farm Party Fowl Farms. Check out our website partyfowlfarms.com or find us on facebook @partyfowlfarms of vermont. Our hens hatch out around 30-40% woolly chicks. Chicks available by pick up only in Waterbury VT, if you are worried about the hatchrates of shipped eggs but are up for a road trip
Be aware that egg sellers cannot guarantee hatch rates of shipped eggs. Even large hatcheries do not promise outcomes. When rating your purchase please consider rating based on packaging of the eggs and that they arrive in good shape. That's about the extent of what egg sellers can promise (other that the chicks being the breed they are supposed to be!). Temperature and postal handling impact the outcome. The higher cost of shipping covers materials to keep the eggs safe including lots of labels alerting the postal workers that live eggs are inside.  Our eggs have about an 80-90% hatch rate if picked up (instead of shipped) and hen-hatched or dry-hatched in a quality incubator. If incubating, we recommend no-turn hatching (place in the incubator pointy side down and leave that way until hatch). Results are better if you have an air movement system in the incubator AND cut holes at the bottom of the container near the pointy end to allow air flow. Chicks need oxygen which enters through the shell. ALWAYS let shipped eggs sit pointy side down for at least 24 hours BEFORE incubating. Skipping this step dramatically reduces the hatch rate, despite what logic would tell you. Aim to store them at around 50-70 degrees for that 24 hour period, if possible.
When we receive shipped eggs ourselves, a 30% hatch rate is considered good, anything above that is a bonus. We have hatched as high as 50% from shipped eggs. Some people are able to get up to around 80%. We just want you to have realistic expectations. We have received eggs from quality farms that sometimes only hatch 1/14. We've gotten 4/14 from the same farm, and all eggs were fertile and arrived in good condition. The point is: shipped eggs are a risk, BUT still way cheaper than getting to a farm and buying rare chicks.
Handling day may be less than listed, but this helps us avoid weekends and holidays when your shipment may get delayed and risk non-ideal conditions.
