Description

The D3000 TK 9.0 Transducers Kit introduces students to the operation of a range of transducers and their use in electronic systems. The transducers kit has been designed specifically to operate within a DIGIAC modular electronics program. Typical topic areas include: ƒ Electronic systems ƒ Logic gates ƒ Combinational logic systems ƒ Problem solving Typical activities include: ƒ Identify the input, process and output units of common systems. ƒ Explain why signal conditioning is necessary in some electronic systems. ƒ Investigate the action of the following types of transducers: ƒ Slotted optoswitch ƒ Reflective optoswitch ƒ LDR sensor ƒ Light level sensor ƒ Temperature sensor ƒ Potentiometer ƒ Tilt switch ƒ Microswitch ƒ Suggest practical applications for each transducer. ƒ Set up and investigate 2-input and 3-input AND and OR gates. ƒ Identify AND and OR gate IC packages. ƒ Draw symbols and complete truth tables for NOT, AND and OR circuits. ƒ Represent the function of NOT, AND and OR gates in Boolean notation. ƒ Set up and complete a truth table for a given circuit. ƒ Design and investigate simple logic circuits. ƒ Distinguish between circuit, block, logic and component layout diagrams. ƒ Design and test a half adder circuit. ƒ Design and evaluate systems to solve simple problems.
