Description
Dedicated to the most famous lion in the world, this remarkable 2 oz antique finish coin draws attention to the problem of human intrusion into the wildlife. Performed in a remarkable high relief design, this coin is delivered in a presentation frame and is limited to 999 pieces around the world.
The obverse side features a high relief image of a lion and an elephant against the background with savannah. To the left side of the obverse is a silhouette of a hand with the inscription “STOP”, referring to pouching. The inscriptions denote the face value, the country and year of issue, and metal fineness.
The reverse side showcases a detailed image of a lion running in savannah and a resting lioness on the background. An inscription on the top denotes the name of the coin. Cecil the lion was the most famous lion in the world that represented Hwange National Park in Zimbabwe, a place of his habitat. In 2015 he was shot dead by a hunter and this fact caused an outrage among international community. This incident changed the attitude towards big-game and trophy hunting.
