Campo del Cielo or “The Field of Heaven” is an impact site of eponymous meteorite which crashed into the Earth’s surface 4000 – 5000 years ago. This catastrophic event was probably witnessed by local tribes, leaving its trace in their legends. The strewn field of meteorite debris covered an area of 60 km meaning that the cosmic body exploded in the atmosphere and shattered into thousands of pieces.
