The faceplates are designed to fit tightly. At times they can be difficult to remove. Some have a notch on the case that is designed to help pop apart. You can also use a wooden toothpick or even sliding a credit card in between the spaces, to pop it apart and carefully pry the clasp from the cover. You have to keep tinkering with it until you find the right spot that will pop it apart. Make sure you are very careful with unsnapping and not using too much force otherwise it will result in a broken faceplate.
