Description
I have just moved from my house in NJ where I was a big collector of a variety of objects to outfit my big Victorian. Now that we have moved to Florida, there is just no way to keep so many things.Description:
I acquired these pieces in NJ at auction, perfect for my old Victorian.
Each dog is 6-1/2” high, about 5-1/4” wide and about 2-1/2” deep
Each dog weighs about 1 pound, 4 ounces
I rather like these because the face is a bit more refined
Spots and ears are orange with a gold chain leading from the basket
Some trivia: These were displayed on the mantel by many people during the Victorian era. Apparently, it was said that the lady of the house would set them in the window as a code for her lover to cover over....one meant that it was safe, and two meant someone was home.
Condition:
The left ear of one dog has a bit of orange paint missing (see close-up photo)
The same dog has some errant orange paint on the back under the glaze (see close-up photo)
Some crazing (see close-up photos)
Some discoloration on the bottom under the glaze
I apologize ahead of time for the cost of shipping. I only ship USPS Priority as I feel I can insure the package.
