    Description

Abbasid Caliphate, al-Mansur (AH 136-158/754-775 AD), Dinar, no mint (Iraq). Album 212
Regarded as the true founder of the Abbasid Caliphate, al Mansur set the stage for the foundation of the round City of Peace, now Baghdad in Iraq.  This brilliant gold dinar is uncirculated, historic, and valuable even if it melts.  It is 4.21 grams of highly refined gold, but to what fineness I cannot say.
Gold dinar coins across the Islamic Empire had similar calligraphic designs.
The Abbasid Dynasty with its capital in Baghdad produced coins with Qur'anic inscriptions.
The proclamation of faith on one side states: "There is no god but God alone. He has no partner".
The other side states that "Muhammad is the Messenger of God".
