    Description

***if you wish to combine items or add more eggs to the same shipment, please contact me so I can set up a special listing just for you***
This listing is for 6+ White Bresse Hatching Eggs (I always send extra). Our line originated from Greenfire Farms 2017 French imports and we are currently on generation 3 from that stock combined with a few local Bresse to mix up the gene pool. They are large, beautiful, stately birds. Their bright red combs, and their dark blue legs make for a striking addition to your flock. They truly are the red, white, and blue bird! You want some serious layers—these are your birds!
Chicks that hatch will be little fuzzy yellow peeps. Our fertility on these this season is excellent—98% and 91% hatches. Bresse are prolific layers, laying a large cream colored egg almost everyday. They are known for being meat birds, but you do get the best of both worlds with these. I was pleasantly surprised at the laying capacity when I added these to our flock. They start laying eggs around 17 weeks.
As for the meat bird characteristic, they are said to be the “best tasting breed of chicken” according to the French. They feed and prepare them in a special way in France before processing, I can provide more information and details on this is you are interested in raising Bresse for meat. We have processed our own, and they were great, although I didn’t use the French method.
The great thing about this breed is that they’re different from your typical American meat birds. They aren’t like Cornish Cross that will die if you choose not to butcher. Again, these are great for eggs and meat—starts laying at 17 weeks or is fully developed and ready to process at that time frame. I was shocked to learn that a lot of people don’t know about them!
I will not send eggs older than 3 days. Please allow for up to a 4 day handling time following payment. Eggs will ship out on the next postal day. They will be bubble wrapped, insulated, and double boxed with peanuts and lots of bubble wrap. We haven’t had a crack reported this season. The box will be well labeled as fragile, unless buyer requests otherwise. We suggest holding for pickup at the post office. All shipped eggs will be accompanied with the NPIP/AI Clean VS 9-3 form. Please message your contact number if you wish for USPS to call when your eggs arrive.
Unfortunately, we can not guarantee the hatch rate on shipped eggs. Many variables are at play with shipped eggs, such as postal handling and personal incubation procedures. If your box visibly had a rough trip, I suggest taking photo documentation and alerting the post office to mark the package as damaged.
DISCLAIMER: Seasoned hatchers already know this, but if you’re a newbie, do not assume the eggs were not fertilized just because you had poor results and no development. I can’t control USPS, your incubator, and/or your broody hen. We have had great results hatching our own, and that is all I have to go by. Our roosters are doing their job. If you are new at this or have questions, I urge you to contact me if you need pointers. Shipped eggs are not easy, and are risky. Anything from too much vibration during shipping, temperature fluctuations, your incubator settings being off, etc—many things can go wrong. However, we will do our best to ensure the greatest viability by sending the freshest, cleanest eggs, in highly secure packaging.
Not into hatching? Feeling like it’s too risky? We also have chicks available! Please contact me for further details and happy bidding! We are VA NPIP/AI Clean 52-410.
