439RK7X) 'ABBASID CALIPHATE, Second Period, AL MU'TASIM BILLAH, 218-227 AH / 833-842 AD, (Abu Ishaq Muhammad b. Al-Rashid), AR dirham struck at MARW in the year 225 AH, Album type # 226, Lavoix #-----  in VF condition, with some weakness as typical of this period;
NOTE :
The present coin was part of a recent hoard that included the first 3 caliphs of the second period, namely AL MU'TASIM, AL WATHIQ, and AL MUTAWAKKIL with terminal date 237 AH; Dirhems of this trio although rated scarce by Steve Album, IMHO, they are very seldom seen, and lacking from many collections and I would consider them RARE; Though their gold counterpart are not scarce and often offered in public sales ;
Once this present hoard of about 200 dirhems is dispersed they will once more become difficult to find;
