The 2017 1 ounce Rwandan silver Lunar Rooster coin is the first release in a new 12-year program for the Republic of Rwanda. The Year of the Rooster launches the series, and will be followed by the Year of the Dog, Pig, Mouse, and Ox through the first five years. The program will conclude in 2028 with the Year of the Monkey release.
Mintage figures for the 2017 1 ounce Rwandan silver Lunar Rooster coin have not been set for this BU product. Instead, minting will take place to meet demand only from December 1, 2016 through December 31, 2017. The reverse of all 2017 1 ounce Rwandan silver Lunar Rooster coins has the coat of arms for the Republic of Rwanda. Included are the engravings of the Central Bank of Rwanda and the coin’s face value in Rwandan Francs, with engravings in the local tongue.
