1968 Pigasus Yippie (Youth International Party) Campaign Button Pinback 1.5"

$ 27.72

Availability: 79 in stock
  • Condition: Listed is a 1.5 inch 1968 Yippie (Youth International Party) campaign button featuring Pigasus.This was a part of a small cache of buttons from a self described 1970s New York City radical underground movement member that I purchased from. Unquestionably authentic in this form.There are two different styles of this button - a 2 inch and a 1.5 inch button. This is the 1.5 inch version. The pin is solid with mild rust on the back. The graphics have toning throughout with minimal surface wear and scratches as seen in the images. The rim shows an indescribable image. It makes me think it was some variation of a print bug, similar to a union bug. But it does not look like a union bug, common to political pinbacks.

    ITEM DESCRIPTION
    Listed is a 1.5 inch 1968 Yippie (Youth International Party) campaign button featuring Pigasus.
    This was a part of a small cache of buttons from a self described 1970s New York City radical underground movement member that I purchased from. Unquestionably authentic in this form.
    There are two different styles of this button - a 2 inch and a 1.5 inch button.
    The pig featured is the 145lb animal the Youth International Party nominated during the contentious 1968 election cycle, named Pigasus, among many other third party candidates. This button doubles as a campaign button and a testament to their pledge to rather having a pig inaugurated than Richard Nixon or Hubert Humphrey.
    Despite any flaws, this is a rare, exceptionally desirable and excellent piece of history...if you can find it!
