Type 1 photo of New York Giants HOF pitcher Joe McGinnity, taken at the Polo Grounds during the 1905 World Series vs the Philadelphia Athletics.
McGinnity pitched games 2 and 4 at the Polo Grounds, with Game 2 having the highest attendance of the series at 25,000 people. The overflow crowd seen ringing the outfield in the photograph makes it likely this was taken during Game 2.
Original photographs from the 1905 World Series, with the Giants in their black WS-specific uniforms, are extremely rare to say the least.
Condition is very good. The reverse has a thin paper backing with pencil ID. The paper backing has loss in a few small spots. Please see scans.
Comes with PSA Type 1 LOA.
